Trust

For a very long time, i was wondering what the word "trust" could mean? I started relating this word to many incidents. Could that be my trust on mom, when i tried to walk at the age of two only with the hope that she is there to catch me if i fall or may be the trust which i had on my father while learning to ride bicycle feeling a blindfolding courage that he is there to hold me if i am about to fall? I tried several instances like this and finally had a funny notion in my mind that Trust is nothing but a thumb impression left on the thin layer of flour while making the chappathi dough. Sounds funny but once we relate this impression with thrust it holds a lot of meaning. After all thunb impression is valid a lot. Trust also is a thin layer which has a heavy value but once lost cannot be regained as the impression on the dough cannot last forever.
Recently, I had a chance to read a book entilted Book of verse by Kumarendra Malik. There i came across the wonderful description of Trust. He describes trust as
On the cake of love
When a thin veneer of icing
of innocence is spread
it becomes trust.
More than my funny idea, this sounds much more pleasing.....isnt'it?

Two states-The Mess

I happened to read Two States by Chetan Bagath through my friend. I read by chance but has a lot to talk about it. The author no doubt exceeds in vocabulory usage. The book stands as a testimony for his mastery over the english language but neverthless i could smell and feel the racial bias. On the superficial level one could feel that he is totally unbiased who has criticized both the states of North and South, but a profound reading and analysis of certain statement peels the layer of unbias and exhibits the problem of the text.M.S Subbulakshmi song is headache for him and his great discovery of the reason for the sale of Fair & lovely in South, puts across his racial bias. All the other criticism of North and South are voiced through different characters in Novel but the above two notion of music and colour is his own voice. So, No way of Escapism to defend him that he is highly impartial. The protagonist family pays heed to heroine only because of her English and monthly income. As a human being she is not respected. The heroine's family tries to discord the hero- fearing love marriage, whereas the love doesn't creates the problem in case of heroe's family but the race. The hero of the novel helps the member of his lover family in different way and wins their heart and does it mean that he barters his love or do they part with their daughter's future for the favour which he has done, or the gold ring and the dinner at the Rain tree hotel.More importance has been paid to the beauty of heroine and not even at one point the hero acknowledges her intellectually. She claims herself to be smart but he declares nowhere. At one point he praises her with few adjectives but only to convince his mother. His compliments are not true from his heart. The novel can be subjected to the study of Feminist approach and racial conflict.Well it has opened doors for discussing various issues. In that way this novel is a great success.

Lovely mask you need
For all victory deed
Smiling mask for success
And pleasing mask in excess
Earth requires green mask to escape from pollution
We require lovely mask to escape from disillusion
Mask is not our false face
which make others heart ache

Power of the power.........

What's this power of the power? Title sounds to be ridiculous isnt it?But it carries an immense value and meaning in it. Well here power doesn't imply positive connotations.Iam writing this blog to vent out my anger and agony on those "power" which misuses the power for its selfishness and advantage.Power when given to the snobs takes a different turn, identifies another snob who pretend to hold power and thereby makes the entire system impotent. The worst of all is the power which your equivalent exhibits without really posessing it.The pompous nature always goes off well with power. By the recurrent usage of this word power iam afraid that i may become posessed by this devilish term. Once for all people fail to realise the fact that only the weak will try to exhibit the power. Snobbery and power exhibition mentality among the friends really mars the calm and serene bondage. I feel it so iam venting it out.

Ecofriendly literature?

Certain things are categorized as ecofriendly and people are encouraged to use such products to protect the environment. Then why not label a particular set of works as ecofriendly literature which blends nature and the human life. Native American literature by all means can be labelled as ecofriendly. The reading of some of the well known works in Native American literature gives an impression that even ages before through the oral tradition of storytelling people have been made conscious of their vital role in protecting the environment. Their vital and seminal relationship with the nature is made to realize through the stories and at the present age through their literature. More aptly the contemporary Native American works are also often categorized as "nature or land based". All the four elements of nature forms a major part of their literature.
Marina Schauffler in her work Turning to the Earth identifies and labels a group of witers as "Ecological Writers". She considers them as "ecological writers" since these writers integrate a profound spiritual and philosophical sense about the earth into their practical lives. Native American literature is often subjected to ecocriticism, Writers are termed as "Ecological writers", then why not call the Native American literature as ecofriendly literature?.....

The Woman Warrior

East or West, the condition of tribes remain pathetic. Globally, the tribes agitate placing their various demands for basic rights, identity and land. However, their demands remain unfulfilled. In midst of all their plights, the condition of tribal women are much worse since they are further subjugated by means of gender. Despite all the troubles there are handful of tribal woman like Leona freed of Cananda who have raised and shined to defend the faith, rights and identity of tribes. C.K.Janu, the founder of the Adivasi Gothra Mahasabha is one such tribal leader of Adiya Community who has spearheaded the agitation for the cause of nearly 3.50 lakh adivasis.
Hats off to janu who has evolved herself devoid of political background. Her struggle against the political parties demanding the land rights presents a vivid scenario of realities of political graft, violence and police brutality against the innocent tribes. In the so called liberal, post-colonial democracies, it must have been really an advent task to fight aginst the political parties which utilizes tribal community as tools rather than treating them as human beings. With experience as guide, she has brought in a tremendous change. She has accomplished herself as a great warrior struggling for a good cause. This Woman warrior, no doubt has turned out to be an icon representing the power of women.

Fantastic moments

Literature- the art of learning life is simply invincible.Unlike other fields, it is not just a matter of reading and scoring marks.Receiving degree as M.A lit or M.phil doesnt make any sense. You can always observe a snse of unique qualities among literature students.I claim it proudly and i have special evidences to prove about their special qualities. They cannot be labelled as strange or odd. They are unique in the sense they knew to enjoy and lead a meaningful life.A sense of everlasting happiness and artistic nature surges their mind.Their approach to things vary and easily they can cull out and solve the problems. The art of teaching lit requires more expressions and feelings more than the language. At places even the silences can overtake the power of words.Enjoying literature depends upon both the individual's taste and the teacher who introduces this field to the students. The very word literature in itself has a charm over us.It spellbounds. Literature is not a witch but an angel which shows a new world. It transports us to the new world. One can escape from the torments and tortures of this global world through literature.Language doesnt matter.Language of any literature nakes this life tasteful.I do believe in the concept of mukthi and moksha.I dont know whether the almighty will bless me with this mukthi but literature has already blessed me with that.Life would have been burden if not for the literature which has offered me the most fantastic moments.
